Music
Music Festival
We were absolutely amazed at the musical talent that was shown today at the first ever All Saints Music Festival!
Each class have been preparing a piece of music during music lessons, using a variety of instruments (including trumpets, violins, clarinets and even a bassoon!) and performed their piece to the other classes throughout the day.
For some children it was the first time they had performed a piece of music to an audience, which showed true determination, courage and perseverance. Well done to everyone involved - we are already looking forward to our next Music Festival!
The planned curriculum provides practical learning experiences which are based on a progression of skills. It includes opportunities for children to participate in various types of music making and to perform their work.
The curriculum provides cross-curricular links to others subjects and explores history, tradition and culture from the UK and other countries.
A variety of visitors to school and visits to other venues enrich the curriculum by demonstrating musical expertise to the children.
The curriculum is supported by a range of high quality extra- curricular musical activities which all children are invited to take part in.

Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. It is a powerful means of communication which offers all children opportunities for personal expression and reflection.
The aims of the All Saints Junior School music curriculum are to give children the opportunity to:
- Enjoy making music
- Develop the interrelated musical skills of performance, composition and appreciation and understanding of music
- Use their musical skills creatively as a means of expression
- Extend their understanding the value of collaboration
- Build their self-esteem and confidence
- Develop appreciation of the aesthetic qualities of music and understand ways in which music contributes to their own spiritual, moral, social and cultural development as well as that of others
