Coronavirus Updates

Tuesday 7th April

Important information for parents and pupils who have instrumental /vocal lessons with Hampshire Music Service.........

🎶 HMS Virtual Learning Zone 🎶

The HMS Virtual Learning Zone will be opening for the summer term. Please go to www.hants.gov.uk/hms to log a parent email address and you will be contacted as soon as the Zone is up and running.

By logging on to the Learning Zone, you will be able to:

*have email conversations with your child's music teacher

*get advice and information on how to help them progress with their instrumental/vocal skills.

*access an extensive resources section which includes video demos by HMS staff and lots of music, technical exercises, worksheets, ensemble activities etc.

*the opportunity to upload audio or video recordings of your son/daughter playing, for a more detailed response from their teacher.

This new format for teaching will start in the summer term, although you can make contact with your teacher before the Easter holidays if you wish to. Teachers will respond at least once a week during term-time, and you will have open access to all the online resources. This provision is available for HMS students, so please do not share the password with students who will not be registered to communicate with an HMS teacher.

When the Zone is open to sign in please visit....

  • www.hants.gov.uk/hms and click on ‘Sign in to HMS' located in the pink bar. Then click on the blue padlock 'Sign in to Student area'.
  • Follow the instructions on the 'Student secure area' page and click on the pink 'Secure area' button to continue.
  • Enter the username and password which you will find in your son/daughter's practice diary, and click 'ok' (username: hmsstudent, password: learningzone).

Here you will find links to the various sections contained within the Learning Zone, along with instructions on how to contact your teacher and upload recordings of your children playing.

If you experience technical issues with the website, please email e-support@hms.hants.gov.uk

After Easter some HMS teachers will be able to offer real-time online lessons, via Goggle Meet. More details about this will be available from 20 April.

We hope you enjoy the resources and opportunities to continue engaging with our teachers and we look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Dear Parents

Thank you for your continued support of All Saints and the education system.  Life within school is very normal and that is just how it should be! Science week is in full swing throughout the school.  However, it is a time for preparation and so I’d like to update you on some of the additional measures we are taking to protect our community from today. In a bid to minimize our mass gatherings we have cancelled all assemblies and will decrease numbers at lunchtime eating together. We have a highly focused cleaning regime.

At All Saints we are very fortunate to have a highly committed staff team, who are offering to cover any gaps that might appear in staffing for the time being.  However, it is inevitable that gaps will appear, as of today we have three team members self-isolating with their families – one who is symptomatic. Other members of the staff team are at high risk of catching the virus, so we would ask you to support us by remaining vigilant around symptoms within the family:

· New persistent cough

· High temperature

If symptoms do arise with any member of the family, please check online with the 111 health check and follow advice.  This might mean that you and the family are asked to self-isolate for 14 days.  If children show symptoms during the day we will contact you to collect them from us.

As we now have a number of pupils self-isolating at home alongside their families, and may face a national school closure, we would like to direct you to the Home Learning resources available on DBPrimary.  This is a system that the children are familiar with and has a wealth of resources.  It will also enable us to upload additional resources if the absence from school is going to be prolonged.

Home Learning for Absence

· Please continue to read regularly and keep reading diaries up to date (30-40 minutes per day)

· DBPrimary Learning Pathway has a wide range of learning resources for home learning including mathematics

· Times Tables Rock Stars

· Spellingframe

· Year 6 only: Use of Revision booklets alongside of the DBPrimary Learning Pathway (these will ensure your child is getting ‘Secondary Ready’)

All the online resources need a child log-on so please do ensure your child has their log-on details.

And whilst this is a time of anxiety, remember that the days are lighter and brighter and we are encouraged to get outdoors, exercise and enjoy the fresh air.

Yours sincerely

Mother's Day Sale

The Mother's Day sale will go ahead tomorrow, but not Friday. ASSA will be here all day from 8.30am in the Community Room and they will stay late. The early slot and late slot will be for 3ST and 3EW who will be out on a trip for the main part of the day.

They will take extra care over contact and cleanliness, using hand gel and gloves etc. and will send for small groups at a time, rather than whole classes.

We will send a parentmail reminding parents to send money in with their child, but if children come to school and have forgotten their money, ASSA will be happy to let them "purchase" a gift and pay later.
